How we replace a roof
- 01Tear off to the wood decking and dispose of the old roof in a dump trailer, not a tarp on your lawn.
- 02Inspect the decking sheet by sheet and replace any that is delaminated, soft, or storm-damaged.
- 03Install synthetic underlayment, ice-and-water shield in the valleys and along eaves, and new drip edge.
- 04Set GAF, Owens Corning, or CertainTeed architectural shingles with manufacturer-spec nailing patterns.
- 05Balance intake and exhaust ventilation so the attic breathes and the shingle warranty stays valid.
- 06Magnet-sweep the yard and driveway for nails, then walk the finished roof with you.

Most single-family homes in our area are torn off and re-roofed in one to two days, weather permitting. Larger or steeper roofs, or homes that need significant decking work, can take three. We stage materials so the roof is never left open overnight.
