A properly installed metal roof can outlast two or three asphalt roofs and shrug off the wind that strips shingles off lesser roofs every spring. On the acreages and farmsteads around Gage County and across the Plains, metal has been the long-game choice for generations, and it is increasingly the choice on modern homes in town.

We install both standing-seam panels, where the fasteners are hidden and the seams are mechanically locked, and exposed-fastener panels for outbuildings and budgets that need it. The right system depends on the building, the pitch, and how long you plan to own it.

What a metal roof includes

  • Standing-seam or exposed-fastener panels
  • High-temperature synthetic underlayment
  • Concealed-clip or gasketed-fastener attachment
  • Matching ridge, valley, and penetration trim
  • Snow and ice detailing where needed
  • Finish warranty and workmanship guarantee

Where metal roofs go wrong

Issue 01

Oil-canning and waviness

Cheap panels and sloppy fastening leave a metal roof looking rippled. We use the right gauge and clip spacing so the panels stay flat.

Issue 02

Fasteners that back out

Exposed-fastener roofs fail at the screws when the washers dry out and the metal expands and contracts. Standing-seam systems avoid the problem by hiding the fasteners entirely.

Issue 03

Trim and flashing as an afterthought

Metal roofs live or die at the valleys, ridges, and penetrations. We detail the trim to match the system, not improvise it on site.

Our Method

How we install metal

  1. 01Help you choose between standing-seam and exposed-fastener based on the building and budget.
  2. 02Install a high-temperature underlayment rated for metal.
  3. 03Set panels with concealed clips that let the metal expand and contract.
  4. 04Detail valleys, ridges, and penetrations with matching factory trim.
  5. 05Finish with a panel and finish warranty plus our workmanship guarantee.

What metal roofing costs

Metal runs higher than asphalt up front, typically $14,000 to $40,000 on a home depending on panel type, pitch, and roof size. Standing-seam costs more than exposed-fastener, and complex roofs with many penetrations cost more to detail.

The trade is longevity: a standing-seam roof installed correctly can last 40 to 60 years, which often makes it the lower cost per year of ownership.

Straight Answers

Metal Roofing questions, answered.

Not on a home. Over solid decking with underlayment and an insulated attic, a metal roof is no louder than asphalt. The drumming people remember is from metal over open purlins on a barn, which is a different assembly.

Modern metal roofing uses coated steel or aluminum with a baked finish warranted for decades against fade and chalk. The finish, not bare metal, is what faces the weather, and it is built for it.

In some cases, but we generally recommend a tear-off so we can inspect the decking and detail the metal correctly. We will tell you which approach makes sense for your structure after an inspection.
